Mellow Monkey has worked with Adams House in the past and this important organization has delivered grief education and peer support services to more than 120 grieving children, teens and their families throughout Connecticut. But right now there’s an unprecedented number of families who need their help more than ever.⁣

Whether these families are losing loved ones to coronavirus complications or to other mortalities, they all have to navigate a profoundly foreign and disconnected landscape. One in which they are unable to hold the hand of a loved to say goodbye at the hospital. Where there are burials without funerals, flowers or community. End of life celebrations scheduled months out, via Facebook Live or Zoom, or cancelled altogether. ⁣

COVID-19 is changing the way we say goodbye. But in the midst of this heartache and sadness, there is hope. And there is help. ⁣

The doors at 241 Coram Avenue may be closed right now because of the coronavirus pandemic, but their programming has never been more accessible to those who need it most. Phone lines are wide open. They’re conducting new program intakes digitally. Their FIG volunteers are doing drive by check-ins on families. And in the midst of this, they are gearing up to launch a new grief education program for young adults and a social support network for widows/widowers.⁣

As the weeks and months unfold, your support of Adam’s House will directly help dozens of children and teens overcome the loss of a parent, sibling, aunt or uncle, grandparent, best friend. Whether that loss was caused by an accident, cancer, heart disease, overdose, homicide, suicide, or the COVID-19 pandemic, these families will all have Adam’s House to turn to for support, love, and hope.
