Sip and Shop to Benefit Stratford Fuel Bank

Thanks to everyone who attended Mellow Monkey's Sip & Shop Event to benefit the Stratford Fuel Bank.

Participants Sip'd and Shopped while enjoying a very tasty Artichoke Dip and Clam Chowder served by our Co-Hosts, The Beach House Grill and Bar at Short Beach.  AND- The Beach House also provided samples of the signature cocktail, The Mellow Monkey.  If you haven't tried this, make sure you remember to order one the next time you're at The Beach House Grill. It's summertime in a glass!  Anticipated opening date for Beach House Grill & Bar  is April 1st!

Raffle Winners:

Congratulations to our Event Raffle Prize Winners, Rona Wright and Bonnie Reynolds - both win a $25 Mellow Monkey gift card courtesy of the store.

Benefit Fundraiser:

We have a great deal of gratitude for everyone who participated in this event.  Together we raised over $350 for the Stratford Fuel Bank.  Shown here is Shirley Dominguez representing the Stratford Fuel Bank, administered by Stratford Senior Services. This check gets deposited on Monday to immediately help with the funding shortfall.

If you were unable to attend but would still like to help out, you can mail a check in any amount made payable to the Town of Stratford Senior Services and either bring the check to the store - or mail directly to:

The Stratford Fuel Bank provides year round assistance for low income families and individuals with their energy bills. Administered by Stratford Senior Services, the Stratford Fuel Bank accepts private donations but is primarily funded through Operation Fuel, an organization established in 1977 to provide crisis assistance to this population. Eligible applicants can receive a one-time grant of up to $500 to assist with oil, electric, natural gas, kerosene, wood, propane, pellets and other energy sources.

Currently the Stratford Fuel Bank is assisting with keeping individuals and families warm this winter season by providing funds for deliverable fuel and for paying utility bills to prevent shut-off. With recent budget cuts, the allocation received from Operation Fuel has been less than in previous years. Your purchases at this special in store event will help keep our Stratford residents warm this winter season.

* 20% of the proceeds before sales tax from regularly priced merchandise in store was donated to the Stratford Fuel Bank.  Sale and clearance items and gift card purchases are excluded.
