North's Typewriter / Alfred Bull Printer & Bookbinder - Historical British Framed Wall Plaque

$ 29.99

This unique artwork renders an antique North's Typewriter overlaid across an invoice from British printer and bookbinder Alfred Bull. The invoice is dated Dec 31st, 1877 and is issued to the Green Chemist for envelopes and billheads. Alfred Bull was a printer and bookbinder specializing in lithographic, copper plate, machine printing and bookbinding all done on the premises at 15 Victoria Street in Swindon. The handsome North's Typewriter dominates the forefront of this print. The North's typewriter has the rare design feature of having its type. bars stand up vertically behind the carriage. The typewriter got it's name from Lord North, who bought the factory where the English typewriter had been made in 1890 and financed the development of the North's typewriter which appeared in 1892.. Framed print has the appearance of being printed on a brass plate which does not come through clearly in the product image (background is darker and looks like gold/brass).. Antique dark finish wood frame with gold gilded inner lip and plaster appearance. Glass face. Measures 14. 1/2 x 18. 1/2. in. Moulding face measures 1. 1/4. in and has a 3/4. in depth. Masonite backed with quality brass backing clips securely screwed into frame back. Sawtooth hanger. Hangs vertically. This is an absolutely gorgeous piece and has two complementary pieces also available (sold separately)
