What You’ll Do

This is a hands-on retail position focused equally on customers, merchandise and the day-to-day readiness of the store.

Create a Great Customer Experience

  • Greet customers, answer questions, offer assistance and suggest products.
  • Share thoughtful opinions and accurate product information without hovering.
  • Recognize when a customer needs assistance and respond with sincerity, enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Build product knowledge and stay current on promotions and sales.
  • Help make Mellow Monkey each customer’s “Happy Place.”

Support Sales & Online Orders

  • Deliver outstanding service while using strong sales skills.
  • Process cash, gift-card and credit-card payments, along with refunds, professionally.
  • Process online orders accurately.
  • Create and update product listings, including written product descriptions.
  • Potentially support or participate in live virtual or in-person shopping events.

Merchandise & Receive Products

  • Stock the selling floor and organize selling and stock areas.
  • Help create and maintain merchandise displays.
  • Receive, unpack, inspect and stock new merchandise.
  • Return misplaced merchandise and restock as needed.
  • Remain aware of your surroundings and help prevent theft and shoplifting.

Keep the Store Ready

  • Complete opening and closing duties.
  • Clean showrooms, wipe and disinfect surfaces and electronics, and periodically sanitize.
  • Vacuum and mop the showroom, sweep the warehouse, remove trash and maintain bathrooms.
  • Work independently when needed while contributing to a supportive team.

What We’re Looking For

The right candidate combines strong people skills, practical retail ability and dependable follow-through.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Understanding of basic sales principles, customer service and customer and market dynamics.
  • Proficient spoken and written English.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and professional telephone, chat and messaging etiquette.
  • Friendly, energetic and enthusiastic presence.
  • Ability to handle several customer requests professionally and adapt to changing business needs.

Technology & Work Style

  • Comfort using an iOS point-of-sale system and Windows computers.
  • Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter.
  • Ability to create product listings and write product descriptions.
  • Ability to multitask, take initiative without direct supervision and work well as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and awareness of store surroundings.

Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Availability for varied hours, including mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to move, talk, hear, reach, grasp and stand throughout the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch and use ladders.
  • Ability to lift, unpack and handle boxes and crates.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field is a plus.
